Getting into skateboarding

Waiting for my skateboard made me realize it's not just about riding — it's about chasing something fun, real, and a little crazy.

Alright, f*ck it. The main reason why I haven't posted anything this week is because I was waiting for my skateboard to arrive. It didn't (yet). The shipping got unfortunately delayed, and it will arrive next Monday (or so I hope).

I do recognize this was a feeble excuse not to post, but I haven't been feeling really inspired. Don't get me wrong, I do have topics to write about. It is just that having to push out something every day feels exhausting and makes me rush the topic a little. Which I don't wanna do, since that is something I did in my previous blog.

So, why have I decided to pick up skateboarding again? Lowkey because of Maxim Habanec. His content reminded me of when I used to "skate" on my Penny board around the city a few years back. I didn't do any tricks on it, really. For me, it was just a means of fun transportation. Currently, I intend to ride on it to work and back if the weather allows it. Then, I would love to learn a few tricks and maybe visit a local skate park now and then. Though, there are tricks I might avoid indefinitely, such as rail grinding down the stairs. The injuries from that are not pretty. No idea how people do it without helmets or at least a mouth guard. To be frank, the whole idea of riding a wooden door with 4 wheels is crazy and dangerous in itself, LOL.

Skating at our local skate park could help me meet some new people. I desperately need to socialize more, but I really don't know how. I don't have a problem with approaching people, it's just that there are no suitable situations for me to do so. How do people meet anyway? I suppose by sharing common interests. Interests that require you to leave the house. Or, if you're comfortable with just having virtual friends, that's a way, too. I had plenty of those, and I'm sick of them. Don't get me wrong, I have met some great people playing video games and such, but they were never enough for me. I want someone I can go outside with and do something together, besides sitting in front of a glowing rectangle doing nothing meaningful. Sure, I have some fun memories playing Minecraft or Team Fortress 2 with strangers online, but do I remember most of the sessions? No. Just a few snapshots that really dug into my core.

So, yeah, I will definitely keep you guys posted. Can't wait to write about my experience riding after so long.
