Now

Here is what I’m currently up to

πŸ•“ Not enough time and energy to blog. I have many, many drafts on various topics, but I’m currently swamped with other things. I will be back to my semiregular posting soon. I just need to deal with a few more important things right now.

πŸ¦€ Learning Rust. I will be making a separate blog post about this, but meanwhile I will give you a short summary of said post. I’m currently learning Rust for 2 reasons. 1. It has a good future potential in the IT job market. Plenty of major companies are either considering or already actively implementing Rust in their software backends. I believe that despite a few strange decisions on behalf of Rust Foundation. Rust has a huge potential on completely replacing the C/C++ programming language. It will be a long journey, but it will get there. 2. I’m still interested in video game development! I realized that using Lua and depending on engines like Minetest is very limiting and shortsighted. Originally, I considered learning GDScript and using Godot to make video games. But I could not get rid of that feeling at the back of my mind, that I should learn a proper programming language and not just something to make games with.

πŸ’Ύ Backing up my blog. I like to imagine worst-case scenarios for fun. Not really, but I decided to make a backup of this blog just in case something terrible happens. Such as me being deplatformed or similar. Since this website is “my void”, it heavily implies that it is just a blog. So, I decided to make a mirror of this blog that would also serve as my “personal” website. As of writing this, I’m manually transferring all text into Markdown files and gradually uploading it to stellarorion.com.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Making my own game. Currently, I’m learning the API of Minetest, and I’m making my own Minecraft inspired game. I’m saying inspired because I don’t aim to recreate a 1:1 carbon copy like, for example, Voxelibre is doing, but some aspects will be similar. Mainly, the “mining stuff to craft with and crafting stuff to mine with” part will be the same.

🧸 Fully switched to bearblog. I transfered all my posts from WordPress to bearblog. I kept a copy of my original blog at one of my many idle domains, just in case I wanted to switch back or something like that. Not only that, but I’m also using that as my hot linking storage for images within my posts because I would feel a little guilty uploading so many images to bearblog just for $5 a month. Furthermore, I did not include β€œhero” images because that would be just unnecessary extra work for me and there are not many good reasons for having them in the first place. It is simply a giant decoration that doesn’t help very much with the story telling.
